Historic Gastown is a great place to begin
with during a trip to Vancouver. Even if it's not first, it should be
somewhere on your list of places to stop. The quaint, old-world charm
of the cobbled streets, historic architecture, and courtyards will
take you back to another time - almost. While it maintains the charm
of the past (it was founded the same year Canada became a nation),
Historic Gastown Vancouver also has one foot firmly planted in the
present and the other in the future. |
You haven't experienced nightlife until you've experienced the after
hours scene in Gastown, the roots of what grew into the metropolitan
Vancouver. Gastown occupies a special place in the history of Canada's
most cosmopolitan city. In modern times, there are several clubs and a
wide range of bars in the 'old' part of the city. There's something
enjoyable for everyone who likes to stay out late and have fun.
Gastown during the day isn't so bad either. A wide variety of shops
will pique your interest as you walk on the east side of the
waterfront in Vancouver. From antique shops to craft stores to even
more curious curiosity shops, Gastown Vancouver has enough variety to
have at least one store that's going to interest you. And if not,
there's still a lot to see without spending any money.
The locals have spent a lot of money over the years to create an
atmosphere in Gastown that's a mix of old and new. From the famous
Steam Clock to the other historic touches you notice as you walk
around, a lot has gone into making Gastown a great place to visit. If
you're interested in learning about and experiencing the roots of the
city of Vancouver, you have to make a trip to Historic Gastown. Do it
for Gassy Jack. Once you've visited once, you'll want to go back. |
