Canada Place

Canada Place One of the most amazing landmarks in Vancouver is Canada Place.  If you've ever wanted to see the unique 'sail roof' on the Sydney Opera House, but you don't want to travel all the way to Australia, Canada Place is a great alternative with a similar style of roof and a lot more to offer. This fantastic convention centre, cruise ship port, and hotel always pops up on Vancouver's most popular postcards and calendars. Also a captivating piece of architecture which decorates the Vancouver waterfront and is a great place of celebration on

Canada Day.  Beyond the white sails that give it a distinctive look, there's a lot to experience and do. The Pan Pacific Hotel, a permanent IMAX theater and Vancouver's World Trade Center are all part of Canada Place, which was built for Expo 86 (the 1986 World Exposition on Transportation and Communication.)

It is a main focus of downtown for locals and visitors.  Built on the shore of Canada's busiest harbour, Canada Place is a great reason to travel to Vancouver by itself. From scheduled events around the year to more permanent features and attractions available, you'll come to see the beauty of the building and stay for all the fun things to see and do on the waterfront.

One of Canada's most treasured examples of architecture, Canada Place has been maintained very well over the years, even expanding once or twice.  Visitors can take breathtaking panoramic photos of sparkling North Vancouver and surrounding mountains. You can watch as the sea buses launch and the float planes take off to the North Shore, as well as major cruise lines leaving the Port.

The crown jewel of Vancouver's waterfront has been attracting tourists since the Expo in 1986, and there's a reason. A lot of thought went into the construction, making it something that still has value many years after the Expo. While Canada Place works a lot with the local community and neighborhoods around them, they also make sure they pay attention to visitors. If you're looking to experience something that's 'truly Canadian,' Canada Place in downtown Vancouver should be on the top of your list.
