If you're going to be in Burnaby, BC, you
want to make sure you stop at the Burnaby Village Museum and Carousel.
Even if you're not going through Burnaby, the museum and carousel is
enough for you to take the trouble to travel there. Although
incorporated in 1892, it wasn't until 1992 that Burnaby officially
became a city. East of Vancouver, Burnaby Village is a great road trip
destination if you're going to be in the greater Vancouver area.
Although there are yearly passes available, tickets for entry are
reasonably priced, with specials available on certain days of the
week. What makes Burnaby Village Museum and Carousel so special? It's
the atmosphere. It's almost like you're stepping back in time to
another era, one when Burnaby was on the move and had a bright future
ahead of it. Today, the city is still popular, but as a tourist
destination to see what it must have been like to live in the area
many decades ago.
One of the highlights is, of course, a restored 1912 C.W. Parker
Carousel. This alone draws people from all over. The attention to
detail on the carousel is nothing short of amazing. Available in the
museum, guests are actually allowed to ride the carousel. Whether you
come to see the carousel or just bask in the history that's all over,
getting out of Vancouver and heading over to Burnaby is a great way to
spend a day or two. From learning about the history of the area to
experiencing the beauty and charm of Burnaby, there are a lot of
different things to do, making it worth the short trip to get there.
